Celebrate, Rest, Activate

In the last two weeks since the election results came in, I’ve had a hard time answering the question- “how are you?” I realized part of this challenge is the expectation of a simple answer but what I have been feeling is multi-layered, sometimes contrasting, and best expressed in a BOTH/AND framework.

I feel BOTH joyous AND exhausted.

I feel BOTH energized by the amazing women and people of color, by Stacey Abrams and AOC, and Kamala Harris and the tangible change that has come from their leadership AND I feel sickened by the millions of people who specifically voted for white supremacy or turned a blind eye to it’s oppressive presence in our society.

I feel BOTH celebratory that there will be a leader who has grappled with the deepest of losses and seems to hold these experiences as a source of empathy for others AND I feel clear that this is not a time to sit back as I/we will need to keep actively working for policies that are aligned with our values.

So, let’s CELEBRATE the fact that we are headed in a new direction, let’s REST and take care of ourselves so we have the energy needed, and let’s ACTIVATE and keep the motivation up for the journey ahead.

Need some ideas on how to stay engaged?

  1. Consider donating and supporting Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff the runoff candidates in Georgia who need to win in January to flip the senate.

    * Check out the Still We Rise Auction happening on IG November 24th-Dec 1st with beautiful items and all proceeds benefiting the Georgia races.
    * Also all Radici Vote merchandise is discounted and all proceeds will go to Fair Fight

  2. Print out Free Radici Anti-Racist Coloring Pages to share with friends and family members and use to paste around your neighborhood.
  3. Consider joining the next Radici Studios Raising Anti-Racist Kids Through Art  class launching again in early 2021. I just wrapped up the two fall sections. As one participant shared, “This isn’t just an art class. It feels like a rumbling revolution. Jen introduced us to a lifestyle, a way to be in conversation with our kids about anti-racism, but not hammering with conversation! It opened my eyes to the possibility of osmosis, how art activities create an awareness, a seeing that is critical for our world for all the reasons we know. I recommend this to any people who want to be responsible humans and want deeper, sweeter, rounder connection with their children.” Email me to get on the waitlist or for more information.
