When Preserved moved into a new location to further their mission of creating spaces for people to nourish themselves and build community, they reached out to me to create a mural. The workshop area had a large white wall and the owner, Elizabeth, wanted a mural that conveyed the energy and connection that happens as hundreds of people take part in their community centered classes each month. I worked with her to create a design that shared and uplifted the ways they invest in community through gathering to preserve food together.
The final piece offers a unique overhead view of a bustling community kitchen. From above, you can see a vibrant table scene—hands chopping strawberries, mixing cabbage, simmering jam, and carefully sealing jars of preserved goodness. It’s a tribute to the traditions of food craft that have helped humans thrive.
More than just a mural, this piece celebrates the joy of making things by hand, the magic of shared learning, and the beauty of food as a connector across cultures and generations.
As an artist who specializes in collaborative murals, I’m passionate about turning blank walls into vibrant stories that reflect the people, places, and passions they represent. My goal is always to co-create art that brings warmth, color, and meaning to everyday spaces.
