In the heart of downtown San Francisco, I had the privilege of painting two custom murals for Bini’s Kitchen founded by Nepalese chef and entrepreneur Bini Pradhan. Completed in 2019 for the opening of the space, the murals tell her story of challenge and resilience.

The exterior mural, facing the busy street, offers a bird’s-eye view of a childhood memory: young Bini cooking momos alongside her family in Nepal. Hands work together to prepare —chopping vegetables, shaping momos, grinding spices—capturing the joy and connection found in a communal kitchen.

The interior mural traces Bini’s personal journey from her early life in Kathmandu to her courageous decision to leave Nepal and start a new life—and business—in San Francisco. The mural honors her resilience, vision, and the community she’s built through food. It’s a visual tribute to her heritage, her hustle, and her heart.
